The Jacques Partouche synagogue of Valenciennes was built in 1863. Jewish families started to settled in Valenciennes from the period of the Revolution and the Empire. Then the community reduced to only a few people. It revived around 1840- 1850 and grew very rapidly between 1850 and 1870. A larger house than the small local which previously served as a synagogue was then bought. The jewish community centre was rebuilt in 1978. The services follow the Sephardic ritual.
